Energy drink fans looking to get their hands on an icy cold, refreshing Krystal Blitz Energy Drink are in luck this week thanks to a social media. The weeklong initiative requires guests to stay tuned to Krystal’s Facebook, Twitter, Flickr and YouTube pages to discover specific web addresses that contain a coupon for a free Krystal Blitz. Each page had a free coupon that would draw more attention. Once the page disappears/reloads the coupon would go away, which would make the users stay tuned. In this way it is forcing the user to go through the site.

Twitter Emerging as Online Video Power Broker [STATS]

On this site they did a short Twitter poll. Most of the people are using Twitter are not just out there to connect with friends, they are looking for interesting things to discuss and that interest them. They said Twitter is “more tuned to my tastes,” in the words of one user. This media doesn't allow you to have large amounts of content instead you are to retweet information and links. Twitter is a huge referral source for online video. Video (video) blogging pioneer Steve Garfield, who literally wrote the book on web video, told us, “Twitter is my #1 recomendation engine for finding videos.” All though this site says there are plenty of videos on Twitter, I don't ever come across them unless someone says I have a great video that is on this topic we are discussing and post it. It's mostly links to other sites, sometimes they are blogs.

As Social Media Takes Off, Most Marketers Get it Wrong

http://www.ignitesocialmedia.com/as-social-media-takes-off-most-marketers-get-it-wrong/

I thought that this article was interesting to read. So marketers are having a problem with social media? I see social media helping out companies connect with their user audience. Users are rapidly growing with social media networking, which is good for all businesses.

"If we had 78 million potential customers sitting in our lobby each month, would our answer be to hang an ad in the lobby? If we had 1 billion potential customers walking around outside our offices, many of whom wanted to talk about what we do, would we drop press releases out the window? (I suspect some CMOs would, actually, as Pavlovian conditioning is very strong…)

Social media’s future is bright. These statistics are pretty compelling. What marketers have to figure out is how to engage with this opportunity, in addition to advertise to it. It’s affordable. It’s just really strange at first. Hopefully these 50%-plus annual growth rates will convince more folks to try…"

For your company it could mean that, while a Twitter campaign could well be a huge success as part of your SEO, it could also be a waste of time. If you are interested in a Twitter campaign then you should definitely do some research first and check out other companies that have done the same and see where they are standing on this network. Dont Panic! Social Media Optimisation

Some might feel a little overwhelmed at the thought of having to start out on a completely new campaign. Many businesses tend to put off extra work social media marketing involves. The benefits of participating in social media usually far outweigh the work put in, but it can be hard to see this when you’re first considering the social media. While there are a lot of differences between optimizing for the search engines and optimizing for social media sites.

Here are some simiarities that they provided on the site:

• Searches will return ranked results. The way users access content on social media sites isn’t that much different from access on search engines. With search engines, results pages are assembled in response to a user query. On social media sites, news feeds are assembled on the presumption that the user query is about recent news, and search results are assembled in the familiar response to the user’s keyword

• Internet users behave in predictable ways. The factors involved in assembling lists of results on social media sites are slightly different, but they are predictable, and things like keywords still play a major part. The results also have a particular audience, who behave in predictable ways. SEO experts take advantage of your existing user knowledge to optimize for your user groups on social media sites

• Content drives rankings. Although many things are taken into consideration in determining where results appear on the various lists on social media sites, content still plays a major part. Your social media content can be treated with optimization techniques, just as your site’s content will be.

Search Engine Placement and Search Engine Marketing

Having your website ranked high in a search engine is an important key to having your site. If your looking for traffic and new comers to your site choosing the correct words that relate to your site is important. But choosing words can bring up other sites with similar names or the same keywords can make or break the website. Everyone has searched for a particular topic and has failed during the search which starts a ranking race because of bad keyword or key phrase optimization. Some search quest optimization may have been done at one time or another, but was either done incorrectly or some of the keywords used daily by the real searchers have changed over time.

Four Reasons Google Adwords
 is Not Meant for Beginners

http://www.seo-news.com/archives/2010/jan/7.html

Google's adwords are extremely powerful in there marketing skills that they have gain over the pass few years. In the article Thackston said "Because, unless they are extremely lucky, they are going to crash and burn. Google Adwords is the Formula One of online marketing and it is not for beginners." In advertising for Google Adwords as a new marketer learning about all the different techniques are overwhelming.

1) First, it can be very expensive and most new marketers will exhaust their ad budget before they can successfully bring in revenue. This is mainly because Google Adwords can be deceptively difficult to master. The basic formula is to identify keywords, write an ad that uses the keywords and have a landing page that completely delivers on what your ad promises.

2) Next, Google rewards advertisers who solve the problem their searchers are trying to solve. If you fail to do this you can expect high cost per click and low traffic.

3) Further, Google purposefully keeps the exact formula for success under wraps. If you are not getting the results you are seeking, the support you receive from Google will be general at best. Expect Google to suggest "improve your landing page" or "tips for writing ads." On top of that, Google periodically change their rules requiring you to change your campaign or face the prospect of high cost per click or low traffic.

4) Finally, the instant global reach of your Google Adwords campaign is accompanied by global competition with a wide variety of skill levels and budgets.
